Human Welfare Organization
Human Welfare Organization is dedicated to work for the welfare of the plantation community in Sri Lanka. These people had been brought from India as slaves to work in the estates of Sri Lanka by the British nearly 200 years ago. This continued even after Sri Lanka gained independence. Again the basic facilities including water provided by the government or other concerned parties are not so adequate and healthy. This entails unexpected social as well as health hazards. These people live in line rooms which are in very poor condition provided by the erstwhile plantation companies. The people living in these areas are not educated and most of the schools in this areas are having classes up to grade five which means that they get the opportunity to study up to the age of ten years. Most of the children go to work at this age without any other options. They too have all the rights to study like others who are staying in the other part of the country.
We are very keen to uplift the condition of these poor people and at the same time we are helpless due to insufficient fund.
